This is a shorter version of the Meyers Beach sea cave tour, but it is still very crowded, highly weather dependent, and frequently canceled.
This tour only goes out to the point and back. Because it is shorter, it is less strenuous than the full Meyers Beach sea cave tour, but it still takes place on an exposed section of Lake Superior where conditions must be extremely calm. We only run this tour when the waves are less than one foot, and that is rare at Meyers Beach. More than 50% of these tours are canceled for safety reasons.
If this tour is canceled, there is no guarantee that we can get you on a different tour the same day. We always try to move guests to another available tour when possible, but availability, timing, staffing, and weather may not allow it.
This is also the most crowded section of the Meyers Beach route. Since this tour only goes to the point and back, it stays in the busiest area where most outfitters, kayakers, and tour groups are concentrated. Guests should expect other kayaks, other groups, and a much busier experience than our quieter sea cave tours.
The launch is still physically demanding. Guests must walk up and down the stairs to get to and from the beach, and the return trip can still feel tiring after paddling.
This tour is better for guests who want a shorter Meyers Beach experience, but it is still not the best choice for anyone looking for a quiet, reliable, or easy sea cave tour.
The Meyers Beach sea caves are some of the best sea caves in the Apostle Islands, but the crowds, stairs, exposed conditions, and high cancellation rate can seriously detract from the experience.
For most guests, we recommend choosing one of our other sea cave tours instead. Those tours are usually easier, less crowded, more reliable, and still offer beautiful Lake Superior sea cave scenery.
