Whether your pup loves the water or just enjoys soaking up the scenery, we’ve got options that make it easy to include them in your Apostle Islands adventure.

🐶 Dog-Friendly Kayak Tours

We currently allow dogs on the following guided sea kayak tours:

  • Houghton Point Sea Cave Tour
  • Chequamegon Bay Sea Cave Tour

These routes are calm, scenic, and perfect for relaxed paddling with your canine co-pilot.

✅ Requirements for Dogs on Kayak Tours:

  • Weight Limit: Dogs under 30 lbs may ride in the cockpit with their owner. Dogs over 30 lbs will require their own cockpit — which means booking an additional seat.
  • Experience: Dogs must be comfortable in a kayak and used to being around water. This should not be your dog’s first time kayaking.
  • Behavior: Dogs must be quiet, friendly, and non-disruptive. Excessive barking, whining, or stress may result in the tour being cut short with no refund.
  • Responsibility: Owners are fully responsible for their dog’s behavior and safety throughout the tour.

🛥️ Dog-Friendly Assisted Boat Tours

If your dog is too big, too old, or just not into kayaking, we’ve got another great option — our Assisted Boat Tours, which are also dog-friendly.

These laid-back tours are perfect for:

  • Large dogs
  • Older or less agile dogs
  • Dogs who are new to water experiences

🐕 Boat Tour Guidelines:

  • Dogs ride free — no extra charge.
  • You must have at least two humans per dog to ensure balance and supervision.

This is a great fit for families or anyone who wants to enjoy the water without paddling.

🧳 What to Bring for Your Dog

Please come prepared with the essentials to keep your dog safe and comfortable:

  • Dog life vest (required for dogs over 30 lbs or those not confident in water)
  • Leash & harness
  • Towel or blanket for seating
  • Collapsible water bowl & water
  • Poop bags (please clean up after your pet)

Note: We do not provide dog gear.

  • Dogs are not permitted on our longer or more strenuous kayaking tours.
  • You are 100% responsible for your dog’s behavior, comfort, and safety.
