Weather & Cancellation Policy

We are a cautious and safety-focused outfitter. Our priority is your well-being. That means we occasionally cancel tours when lake conditions make it unsafe to paddle — especially when waves exceed safe limits near the sea caves.

If we cancel your tour, you will receive a 100% refund — no questions asked.

We also offer priority rebooking to groups affected by weather cancellations. You’ll get first choice on rescheduling for any future tour, even if that tour is normally sold out.

🌊 Understanding Lake Superior Conditions

East Side — Calmer, Safer Waters

Locations like Chequamegon Bay, Houghton Point, Washburn, and Barksdale are generally protected from wind and waves. Conditions here are often calm, with wave heights under 1 foot — perfect for families, beginners, and sea cave paddling with less risk of cancellation.

West Side — More Scenic, But Riskier

Areas like Meyers Beach, Roman’s Point, Sand Island, and Devil’s Island feature dramatic sea caves but also come with rougher conditions. Waves over 1 foot are common, and cancellations happen nearly 50% of the time. If you’re planning a West Side trip, we suggest building in flexibility — or choosing safer alternatives on the East Side.
