IMPORTANT: YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR OWN BOAT DRIVER(S)
We provide the boats, fuel, navigation lights, and all required safety gear — but you are responsible for driving your own boat. These are small aluminum boats with outboard motors. If you are not comfortable operating a motorized boat, do not book this tour.
-
Groups of 2 to 3 people will be assigned a tiller-driven boat (steered by hand using a tiller, not a steering wheel) and must provide 1 capable boat driver
-
Groups of 4 to 5 people must provide 1 boat driver
-
Groups of 6 to 8 people must provide 2 boat drivers
-
Groups of 9 to 11 people must provide 3 boat drivers
-
Groups of 12 people must provide 4 boat drivers
We do not supply boat operators. Every boat must have a qualified driver provided by your group.
Night Sea Caves Boat Tour – Chequamegon Bay
Duration: 2 Hours
Launch Location: Washburn Marina Boat Ramp, 1 Marina Drive, Washburn, WI 54891
Passenger Weight Limit: 30 to 300 pounds
This night boat tour explores four sea caves located in the safest, shallowest, and calmest waters of the Apostle Islands region — all within or near Chequamegon Bay. The route includes caves at Houghton Point
Our boats are small and maneuverable enough to enter the sea caves directly — something the large commercial tour boats can’t do. After dark, underwater lights illuminate the caves and reveal fish, formations, and reflections that can’t be seen during the day.
Tour Highlights:
-
Explore 4 secluded sea caves
-
Calm, warm waters ideal for small boats
-
Quiet, uncrowded experience on Lake Superior
-
Boats equipped with underwater lighting
-
Stunning nighttime atmosphere and lake views
What to Bring:
-
Light jacket or sweatshirt
-
Bug spray
-
Waterproof camera
-
Cooler with drinks and snacks
-
Motion sickness remedy if needed
-
Towel and swimsuit (optional)
-
Sunscreen for early evening sun
Restrooms are available at the Washburn Marina before launch.
REMINDER:
If no one in your group is capable of safely operating a small motorized boat, this tour is not suitable for you. Each boat must have a competent driver.
